Zurich Pizza Pavement Drawing
Last time I wanted to share a personal achievement with you guys I wrote a post sharing my excitement after publishing my first iPhone Application. Unfortunately, judging from your reactions – that didn’t’ turn out so well ;). I want to introduce my second app today, but being smarter this time – let me show you an illusion first! After all, this is what you came here for in the first place, right? Let’s see what Julian Beever has been up to lately. His latest drawing was done in Zurich, depicting a giant 3D pizza. Like it?

Manfred Stader – 3D Street Artist
Among the names you would expect when looking at 3d Street Art, Edgar Mueller, Julian Beever , Tracy Lee Stum and Kurt Wenner you should also find Manfred Stader. He began street painting, pavement art during his art studies at the Städel Artschool in Frankfurt in the beginning of the 1980s. Stader combines the “folk”- art of the street painters wich began in the 16th Century in Italy with the modern perception of illusion painting of the 21st century using pastel chalk.

Kurt Wenner
Kurt Wenner is an artist who originally worked for NASA as an advanced scientific space illustrator. He became very taken by the abilities of artists from the Renaissance, and he left NASA and moved to Rome to explore the works of the great masters. He now works in a variety of forms, and even designs houses, but one art form he has become famous for is street painting. This tradition is supposed to have started in Italy in the 16th century, where artists would use chalk and pastel to create images on the ground. They were originally known as Madonnari, since many of their images were of the Madonna. Passers by would throw coins, which is how the artists would make their living. Kurt Wenner has combined traditional street painting techniques together with his interest in classical art, to create an art form all his own. Many of the images use anamorphic techniques as well as trompe l'oeil, in order to create a world where fantasy and reality combine. This image was created at Waterloo train station in London. The woman, although she appears to be lying on a very convincing sofa, is in reality just lying on the ground. Kurt Wenner's work is shown here with the artists permission. [ via : grand-illusions ]

Edgar Mueller's Amazing 3D Sidewalk art
Nope, a huge ice crevasse didn't open along a pier in Ireland. This is the work German wunderkind Edgar Mueller, a street artist who uses old-school painting techniques to create some seriously sweet paintings.
The 3D street painting "Crevasse" by artist Edgar Mueller is seen in this undated picture during the "Festival of culture" from August 21-24, 2008 in Dun Laoghaire, Irland. Edgar Mueller put a part of the eastern Pier into the ice age. This project has been supported by the Goethe Institution Germany.

Chalkboard art
Ever walk past a restaurant or into a grocery store and see creatively decorated Chalkboards? I love using chalkboards as a design element in your home, whether it be for use in the kitchen, office or the kids room. But taking the ordinary chalkboard and elevating its functionality from a basic menu to a trendy design piece was genius… After surfing the net this morning looking for some really cool chalkboard art, I found Dana Tanamachi…pretty cool.
